A visit by 100th Anniversary Celebration Committee Members of Trabzon Commerce Highschool

Trabzon Commerce High School, one of the most established educational institutions in Trabzon, has undertaken a significant project to preserve its 100-year legacy for future generations by preparing a commemorative book.

The 100th Anniversary Celebration Committee members, including Trabzon Commerce High School Principal Orhan Genç, Vice Principal Aybike Işık Özgün, Alumni Association Board Members Salih Aladağ, Ekrem Şahin, and Hüseyin Gençoğlu, along with journalist-author İsmail Fandaklı, visited our exchange. They met with our Chairman of the Board, Eyyüp Ergan, to provide information about both the centennial celebrations and the book they are working on.

Principal Orhan Genç highlighted that Trabzon Commerce High School was one of the six commerce schools established across Turkey as per the decisions made at the İzmir Economic Congress. It was originally founded as "Trabzon Orta Tacim Mektebi" on April 18, 1924, with Hamamizade İhsanbey serving as its first principal. He stated,

"Our goal is to ensure that our school remains among the most preferred educational institutions in our province. To achieve this, we want to act together. We invite everyone to participate in the events and projects related to our school. As for the book we are preparing, it is a very special work. It contains memories from the past 100 years. Many prominent figures in our city graduated from our school. You will find untold stories about their lives and unforgettable experiences. We have also gathered insights from the city's opinion leaders, administrators, and representatives of various organizations. With this book, we aim to pass on the 100-year history of our school to future generations."

Our Chairman of the Board, Eyyüp Ergan, congratulated Trabzon Commerce High School on its 100th anniversary, stating,

"It is very significant for us that this school has been a pillar of education for the business and industrial world. Beyond education, it has made invaluable contributions to the business community. The idea of compiling 100 years of memories into a book is truly commendable. I congratulate everyone involved in this project."

Currently operating as Şehit Ünal Bıçakçı Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School, the institution continues to offer education in various fields, including Information Technologies, Public Relations and Organizational Services, Accounting and Finance, Radio-Television, Marketing, and Retail.
